Topaz Lake Park,Gardnerville, NV
5pm September 29, 2007
Last update Sept 7, 2007
This month’s general members meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Topaz Lake Park located at 3700 Topaz Park Road, Gardnerville, NV 89410. The camp phone number is (775) 266-3343. They don’t accept site reservations so if you are the first one to the campground be sure to grab a couple sites for the club. If you would like to go up on Friday before the meeting please just get a single site and the club will subsidize the camping fees. The campground is located at the north side of Topaz Lake near the California and Nevada border. I’m not sure about restaurant locations nearby so you might want to cook at the campground this month or perhaps there is a place to eat dinner in Gardnerville if that suits your style.
The tour will leave from Denny’s located at 6455 Owens Dr. Pleasanton, CA 94588 at 8:00 a.m., show up early at the restaurant if you want some hot coffee to awaken the riding senses before we depart.
We realize and have discussed at our board of directors meetings that we have not been catering enough to new riders on our monthly tours, and as tour captain I am partially to blame due to being compelled to ride more swiftly with the experienced group than with the beginners, so this month we are going to try something new for beginners or those of you that want to have a more direct and relaxed route. Safety tech director Steve Palmer will lead an adjacent tour to the meeting over a different route at a relaxed pace. By doing this we can give the best day of riding experience to both new and experienced riders and we will all arrive at the meeting with the satisfaction of a good ride that fits your level of experience and skill.
We will start the ride with a brief meeting to go over the route and general safety rules. Steve and I will distribute written directions to all of the riders. Please bring your own favorite map or GPS. Please be on time, and everyone is strongly encouraged to ride within your limits, we have had no crashes in the past year on our monthly tours and safety is a priority.
As always, new riders and non-club members are welcome to join us on our tours and or at our meetings.
