Emigrant group camp at Stampede Reservoir in Tahoe National Forest, Trapper site. Membership Meeting at 5 PM.

This is a spacious group site with a good view of the (very low) lake; the elevation is 6000 ft. The communal area is a pad with several tables and BBQ grills and a big fire pit. The camp host across the road sells firewood.

There is no store or food service nearby, so we are stopping at SaveMart in Truckee to shop. You can buy fried chicken or pizza for your dinner, or a steak to cook in camp.

The usual $10 member (dues paid) / $20 non-member camping fee applies.

Campground location for those not taking the tour:

Emigrant Group Campground

N39° 28.117' W120° 06.949'

From Truckee, travel east on Highway 80 for 10 miles, to the Hirschdale Road exit. Follow Hirschdale Road / Stampede Dam Road north for 8 miles, to Stampede Reservoir. Take a left on Dog Valley Road and cross over the dam, 1.6 miles to campground.

Important Note for Garmin Users: There is an error in Gamin mapping of Dog Valley Rd. Do not navigate directly to the campsite; download the attached instructions and map. Do not turn at the power plant.
