At the June "Annual Meeting" BMW Norcal elects a new Board of Directors; It's our summer party! This year's campout will be at the beautiful Calaveras Big Trees State Park, on Hwy 4 near Arnold, in the Lower Group Camp. All dues-paying members can stand for election as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Safety Director, Tour Captain or Historian, and candidates can be nominated from the floor. The Tour Captain will not be running for a third year, and if you'd like to show us some nice rides, we've posted a job description here: How to be Tour Captain. If you're interested in Treasurer, the details are here: Duties of the Treasurer.

The event will be catered with vegetarian or meat choice at $20. The camping fee is $10 member / $20 non-member.  Please be sure to register by Sunday, June 19th, if you want a meal! There will be beer.

The tour will start at Flames Coffee Shop, 7170 Santa Teresa Blvd, San Jose, with breakfast at 8:00, stands-up at 9:00. Norcal Historian Ed Perry historian@bmwnorcal.org will lead the ride. The meeting will be at 5:00 PM, dinner will be at 6:30.

Calaveras became a State Park in 1931 to preserve the North Grove of giant sequoias. This grove includes the "Discovery Tree", also known as the "Big Stump", the first Sierra redwood noted by Augustus T. Dowd in 1852. This area has been a major tourist attraction ever since, and is considered the longest continuously operated tourist facility in California.
Over the years, other parcels of mixed conifer forests have been added to the park.  This amazing park has a huge variety of habitats and recreational opportunities to explore.
