Here it is! The first annual BMW Cross Border Rally, brought to you by the BMW Moto Club QTO and BMW NorCal. We're coming together as the first BMW International Sister Clubs in the world, and this rally is how we celebrate this friendship. This year our clubs will rendezvous in Loreto BCA and tour our way up scenic and adventurous Baja California, to end at the BMW Dealership in Long Beach California. This is open to members of any BMW motorcycle club.
Starting things off from the US side will be a group of BMW NorCal riders heading from the SF Bay Area to Loreto. We will mostly be on paved roads but there will be some dirt too. Expect stops at San Felipe, a night at Papa Fernandez on the Sea of Cortez, a visit at Coco's Corner, Mulege and camping on the beautiful beaches of the Bahia de Conception and much more. Accommodations will include camping on beaches to staying at hotels.
We will casually tour to Loreto. We are neither racing nor getting crazy off road. That's not for this tour. And this is not a guided tour through Baja. We are a collective of BMW riders, each paying their own way. Yes, we will be following a route, and yes, BMW NorCal will be making some reservations in advance. But everyone is responsible for their own bike, their own mexican insurance, and their own expenses. We will be providing links and tips of what we need.
After a day or three of "cultural immersion" in Loreto we will tour north with the BMW Moto Club QTO, making our way to BMW of Long Beach. We've reserved a whale watching package with beach camping and "noche Mexicana" dinner and breakfast at Ojo de Libere. There will be stops stops along the way at places of historic and cultural interest, and some great riding camaraderie.
The last night in Mexico we expect to stay in the Baja wine region, just south of Tecate. After a night of revelry we push to Long Beach. BMW of Long Beach will host the Rally with a great event, with great food, cold drinks, and vendors offering some great prizes and motorcycle related merchandise. From Long Beach we ride to Death Valley, with one night in Joshua tree, before we link up with the annual BMW NorCal campout in Furnace creek
Riders that can't go to Loreto can meet in the wine region, or at the BMW dealership in Long Beach.
We've sorted out the fees for the Ride.
