Covid -19 Update 2

Unfortunately, the NPS posted that the campgrounds in DV are closed starting tomorrow.  So we unfortunately need to cancel the campground reservation.  It's not clear how long the closure will last.  If you make the trip, you'll have to make arrangements for accomodations separately.  

Covid-19 Update.

We all love to ride and camp. With all the cancellations this year there is a strong desire to maintain the Death Valley meeting.  The Covid-19 risk to any one single individual is pretty low.  However, supporting and encouraging a large group social gathering seem insensitive to the requests of public health officials to limit social interaction, especially non-essential gatherings and we all need to do our part for the good of the cause.  

As a result, the Board decided to cancel the March meeting.  However, we will maintain the campground reservation for the time being if anyone would like to use it for a personal trip.  There will be no official meeting or club support at the campground. This assumes no other developments  or decisions made by the Club, State of California or National Parks.  Also please keep an eye on the forecast as there is a much more active weather pattern the remainder of the month.  

If you paid a guest fee and not planning to use the campground for a personal trip please let us know and we will maintain your guest fee as a credit for another meeting or if specifically requested, process a refund. If you do decide to camp at Furnace Creek please be mindful of the recommendations of the CDC and regularly wash your hands, maintain appropriate social distance, and for sure don’t make the trip if you have any sickness or been around others who have been ill. 

It's time again for the Club's annual Death Valley Campout/Member Meeting! This year we are in Furnace Creek Group Sites 1 and 2, with Site 2 reserved for "Early Bird" campers starting on Thursday March 26th. And as usual getting there is up to you. The Club doesn't put together an organized ride for this event so fly solo or join up with other members for the ride down.  And remember to be ready for any weather - we experience everything from snow to high temps.
