Songdog Ranch, why not? Come join BMW NorCal for a great time at one of the club's favorite destinations! Songdog Ranch offers some awesome, old west style camping just south of the Carrizo Plain, a great destination for us moto adventuring types! We have booked the campground for two nights as well so you have no reason not to make the trek down. At the current time we are limiting attendence to BMW Nor Cal Club members, including initiate club members as well as members of certain other BMW Motorcycle clubs. As this is a private campsite and considerably more expense than public sites, the cost will be $10 for full members and $20 for initiate members and sister club attendees.
Also we plan to serve a BBQ dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday. The cost is $25.oo. Please reserve your meal here
We are still figuring out if we will be able to provide a meal and related cost as well as an organized ride but want to get the sign up posted ahead of time. Stay tuned for futher information as we get plans firmed up.
The site is large engough to offer plenty of social distancing and given we are camping, will be outside. Of course everyone is expected to follow current CDC, State and County rules including wearing masks and staying at home if you are sick or been exposed to Corona Virus.
We don't have an organized ride to the campout given the diversity of peoples scheduled. There is a group leaving from Fremont at 11 AM if you are looking for people to ride with. The meetup spot is at Starbucks on Morwry Ave. with a plan to head down 101, 25, 198 and 33 stoping in Taft for supplies. Please show up with a full tank of gas.
If you are leaving at a different time and looking for others to ride with, please reply with the date, time and location and we will accumulate the options and send and update to the attendees to help riders connect.
The GPS coordinates for the campsite are 34.880996321792146, -119.47961012163333 There is a dirt road you need to ride up to get to the campout. It is managable for most. If you are uncomfortable riding on the dirt the best option is to walk up to the campsite and I am sure we can find a rider to help get the motorcycle up. You can try cell but I recall the coverage was pretty spotty.
We do NOT have dinner arranged for Friday so be prepared. There should be a BBQ grill there and we plan to bring a bag of charcoal if you want to bring something to grill.
It looks like there may be rain on Sunday. The current forcast doesn't show rain at SongDog until the late afternoon or evening however the Bay Area shows rain in the afternoon so be prepared.
There will be lots of riding options for Saturday we can organize Friday night. I am sure some of our SoCal guests can help us find some interesting routes.
