Songdog Ranch, why not? Come join BMW NorCal for a great time at one of the club's favorite destinations! Songdog Ranch offers some awesome, old west style camping just south of the Carrizo Plain, a great destination for us moto adventuring types! We have booked the Speak Easy Lodge for Friday and Saturday Night and campgrounds 1,2,3,4 for Saturday night as well so you have no reason not to make the trek down. Please note that there is a short dirt road up an incline you need to navigate to get to the campground. Unless it rains it is doable on all bikes and tires. If you are uncomfortable riding in the dirt there should be plenty of members ready to help.
We also have arranged an excellent meal option with Dinner Saturday night and breakfast Sunday morning you don't want to miss. Last time we used this caterer everyone raved about the food. the cost is $45.00
We don't have an organized ride to the campout given the diversity of peoples schedule and distance of the ride. If you are looking for others to ride with send out a message on the Club Facebook page or send a message to the Tour Captain and we will help you connect with other riders
Directions to Camp:
Songdog Ranch is at 680 Ballinger Cyn rd, off of Hwy 33 in the Cuyama Valley of California.
Ballinger Canyon road is also known as Forest Service Number 9N10. The Ranch itself is east of Highway 33 by 1.5 miles. You will be on the property when you see the wooden split rail fence running along the road. The ranch host lives in the main house near the old wooden windmill on the north side of Ballinger rd. You are invited to stop and visit, but you are welcome to proceed to your camp. To get to the site, continue east up the canyon for about 200 yds past the windmill. On the right (south) there is a dirt road that will take you through the dry creek and up to the top of the 200ft mesa. When you reach the top of this dirt road it turns around to the East. The Speak Easy Lodge will be on your right.
Stop in Taft or New Cuyama for supplies. There are no stores around SongDog (Taft is 45 minutes away).
Remember you are responsible for yourself and your machine Ride within your limits.
Be Safe and see you at camp!
