We prerode the route and unfortunately the unpaved section is too beat up for road bikes.  So we are back to Kirch Flat for August. Stay tuned for info on an impromptu Mendocino Madness weekend for GS aficionados  at Lake Pillsbury after the RoL though.

Lake Pillsbury

Get ready for an awesome adventure! We're heading to the Fuller Group Campground at Lake Pillsbury in the Mendocino National Forest from August 15th to 17th! Note the change in dates from the last weekend of the month due to the Range of Light happening on the last weekend this year. Note there will  be a 10 section of broken up pavement and dirt or gravel.

Member registration opens July 19th.  All other registration opens August 2.

This spot is perfectly central for exploring all the Mendo Forest has to offer. Don't forget your fishing pole – you might just catch your dinner straight from the lake!

For the GS enthusiasts the park is packed with trails for you to explore. You can take M1 from Upper Lake to the campground.  On the way home, consider the scenic route over Hull Mountain and make a stop in Covelo or take the M4 to the east.  Get all the info in the Motor Vehicle Use Maps.  If you do plan to ride the trails please don't ride alone, bring some tools and be self sufficient. We expect some epic stories and pictures if you head into the wild.

The campground is also super close to the Lake Pillsbury Resort. If it's open, you should be able to grab ice, cold drinks, and maybe even some limited grub.

Key Campground Info

  • Dirt Road- Their is a 10 mile dirt road to the campground. It is rideable by all bikes but will have light gravel and loose dirt in sections. You can review Streetview in Google maps to get an idea of what to expect.
  • Limited Capacity-We will have tight capacity on this campout so please only register if you plan to attend and cancel if you plans change.  Our No Show Fee policy is in effect.
  • Hydration Alert! There's no potable water on-site, so pack plenty of your own or bring a reliable filter.
  • Fire Safety First! Keep those flames contained! Only use the established fire pits and BBQ grills. That means leaving your portable charcoal grills at home, folks.

Breakfast

Fuel up for the journey! We'll kick things off with breakfast at 8 AM at Babs' Delta Diner (770 Kellogg Street, Suisun). Enjoy your meal right on the waterfront of the Suisun Slough!

    Club Ride

The ride kicks off promptly at 9 AM sharp, so show up with a full tank of gas, all your GPS files loaded, and a good grasp of our route. We're looking at roughly 160 miles and about 5 hours of riding (not counting breaks). Our goal is to roll into the campground no later than 3:30 PM.

Our scenic route will take us north on Wooden Valley Road, Monticello Road, and Cappell Valley Road. Our first pit stop will be at the Turtle Rock Bar and Café for a quick restroom break. After that, we'll conquer Berryessa Knoxville Road to Lower Lake, then take the picturesque route to Lakeport for a lunch stop and to stock up on supplies. From there, it's a quick 50-mile hop to the campground!

Route sheets. GPX files and Rever links will be sent in your confirmation.

Get ready for a fantastic weekend of trails, nature, and good times!
