The start of the Range of Light Gypsy Tour 2016 is 30 days from today!   Here's a quick update for the 100+ riders who have registered and everyone else who is thinking about attending:
    • The Range of Light is all about riding, camping and having fun with old and new friends.  Each morning you break camp at your leisure, ride with a group or all by yourself, set your own pace and stop as often as you like or perhaps not at all!
    • When you arrive at that night's destination you'll find plenty of grass so set up the tent wherever you like.  Then grab a cold beverage, join in the conversations about the day's ride and prepare to enjoy plenty of good food with dessert.
    • The routes this year are nothing less than spectacular!   They've all been ridden several times by the ROL team and final maps and GPS files are in production.
    • Our first night is in Boonville, California, a typical wine country village on Highway 128 that offers wine connoisseurs some of California's best sparkling and Pinot Noirs.  There are several good restaurants, coffee stops and places to purchase supplies.
    • The ROL is limited to 200 riders so if you are ready to ride, click on the register button above as just 95 spots are still available (plus you'll save $10 as an "Early Bird" registration!)
    • The registration fee includes all of the following: grassy camping for 3 nights, route sheets and GPS files, an ROL 2016 sticker and pin, eligibility to win tons of prizes and dinners on Friday and Saturday nights!
    • Range of Light 2016 t-shirts and caps are now available for purchase.  You can purchase when registering online or anytime from the club store.  All items must ordered in advance by August 12, 2016, and be picked up at the event.
If you have any questions email the ROL Chair at rolchair@bmwnorcal.org.  The Range of Light Gypsy Tour 2016 will be a fantastic weekend of exciting rides, camping, friends and having some fun.  See you in Boonville, California on September 2, 2016!

It's Second Sunday Breakfast Ride time and we need your help!  We need a volunteer to lead a ride for a few hours somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area.  This is fun and simple and here's all your need to do:

    • Pick a starting location for an 8:00 AM breakfast that's convenient for riders and close to home.
    • Plan the route with a 3-4 hour duration including restroom or any other breaks you'd like to make.
    • Ride the route a week before the ride.
    • Print off copies of the route sheet (no need for GPS files) and bring them to breakfast.
    • In the parking lot just prior to the ride, review the route sheet and the basics of safe riding in a group.

That's it!  Oh, contact the club webmaster and provide all the details for posting to the website.  There are plenty of folks in the club who can help so just ask!  To sign-up and lead a Second Sunday Breakfast Ride please contact our tour captain at tourcaptain@bmwnorcal.org.

Being the Treasurer of the BMW Club of Northern California is fun and it’s much easier than it was a few years ago now that we’ve automated many of the tasks and shared the workload with the other Board of Directors (BOD) members.  The job can be done in just a couple of hours a week and here’s a recap of the Treasurer’s duties and responsibilities!

    1. Pay bills to our vendors (once approved by the President)
    2. Make deposits into our checking and savings account for cash and checks received
    3. Reconcile and assign account information to the deposits received from PayPal (for all online transactions)
    4. Balance the check and savings accounts each month and produce a profit & loss statement
    5. Support the President, committee chairs and BOD in developing the budgets by providing historical revenue reports for the 49’er, Range of Light and annual club operations
    6. Prepare and complete the annual club audit in August of each year
    7. Prepare and file the State of California and Federal Tax Returns by November of each year and pay the annual sales tax bill to the Board of Equalization
    8. Compete and file a Statement of Information with the State of California every other year
    9. Pay annual fees including renewing the PO Box and MOA and RA memberships
    10. Review all contracts for the 49’er Rally and Range of Light including fairground rentals and catering

You don’t need to be an accountant to be the Treasurer!  If you have previous experience with any checkbook software product (Quicken, Money, etc.) and/or online bill payment from your bank, you’ll do just fine.  Finally, there are two previous Treasurers active in the club and available to you anytime with 6+ years of combined experience.    I encourage you to consider the position and contact me if you’d like to discuss at treasurer@bmwnorcal.org
